Vance sent a letter to the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, in an attempt to relaunch negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The newspaper indicated that De Vance seeks to test the possibility of reaching common ground between the two countries, which may help convince US President Donald Trump not to launch an attack on Iran.
