The Bank of Lebanon issued a decision depriving its employees and their families from receiving medical treatment in various specialties at the Great Prophet Hospital and the Lebanon Medical Center (LMC), especially in the cardiac surgery department and radiology departments. Member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, MP Ali Al-Miqdad, considered this decision unjust and inhumane. He pointed out that this decision represents a resounding fall in all moral, humanitarian and national values, and violates the most basic health rights, by depriving a person of his natural right to choose the hospital he wants, trusts, and finds appropriate treatment in. Al-Miqdad stressed that although this decision did not have any practical impact on the two targeted hospitals, and did not diminish their status or harm them, given the distinguished health and hospital services they provide and humanitarian and patriotic care to all people without discrimination, its danger lies in that it comes in the context of the policy of submitting to American dictates that target all aspects of life in Lebanon, to the point of harming the health of citizens.
