Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said, “Women’s rights constitute a basic criterion for building the state, stressing that women who bear the greatest burdens in light of crises should not be in the last rows when making decisions.” In a speech he delivered at the opening of the “Women on the Front Lines” conference, Salam pointed out that women were among the first to bear responsibility for displacement and its repercussions on the family, stressing that it is the state’s duty not to force women to engage in “daily heroics” to overcome challenges. He stressed that "the primary responsibility lies with society and the state to help the country recover," noting that true stability begins with the ability to plan for the future in light of the decision of war and peace in the hands of the state. Salam stressed that the economy cannot recover in light of the wasting of the energies of some women, considering that talent alone is not enough in light of the absence of opportunities and conditions that allow women to participate effectively. He concluded by stressing that a society whose members are unable to distinguish between truth and fabrication is difficult for it to make free decisions, pointing out that equality is not achieved through slogans and speeches, but rather through fair laws and institutions that guarantee their application and effective participation in decision-making.
