The Media Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, denied, in a statement issued by him, that the President had given an order to deport two agents of the Israeli Mossad, and described the news circulating on social media as completely false. The statement said that this news aims to undermine the reputation of the Prime Minister and mislead public opinion by fabricating narratives that have nothing to do with the truth.
In fact, the security services had arrested two people on suspicion of using a phone number beginning with the international code (+972). During the investigation, it was revealed that they were of Palestinian nationality and resided in the city of Ramallah in the occupied Palestinian territories, which explains their use of a number bearing this symbol.
The security services conducted the necessary investigations with them under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and it was found that they had entered Lebanese territory legally, and that they had previously visited Lebanon several times, and that they were in possession of two valid travel tickets for departure.
The media office confirms that President Salam did not interfere in this case, neither closely nor remotely, and that the security services and the competent judiciary took over the file and took the necessary measures with complete independence, and without any interference from any party whatsoever.
