MP Ghassan Hasbani considered that the Dahr al-Baidar incident constitutes an opening for the government to implement its decisions regarding Hezbollah’s weapons, explaining that the government issued a series of decisions in which it considered the party’s weapons to be outlawed. At the beginning of October, the checkpoint in Dahr al-Baydar witnessed the arrest of two people, and 500 kilograms of explosives were seized from them, amid suspicions that they were linked to Hezbollah.
Hasbani indicated that the party is striving to prevent the Dahr al-Baydar explosives file from being referred to the Judicial Council, fearing that this would set a precedent, given the important implications that referring the file to the judicial judiciary carries. The government has not yet decided on the referral request, as the file remains pending until the results of the judicial investigations become clear, according to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper. It was decided to keep the investigation before the military judiciary, despite the opposition of the Lebanese Forces ministers.
Hasbani pointed out that “there is no intention yet among the Lebanese Forces ministers to resign,” considering that “all things are possible if the government loses all sources of confidence.” He added that the party is committed to the government's decisions, and if the government does not adhere to them, it will be the one that loses its existence.
Regarding the Israeli elections, Hasbani ruled out any change in the regional situation, pointing out that the American-Iranian conflict still exists, and that Israel is in a state of war with Iran and Hezbollah. Israelis will vote tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27, to choose a new 120-seat Knesset, according to The Times of Israel.
As for the by-elections in the Bekaa to choose a successor to the late MP Ghassan Skaff, he said: “Any democratic battle we are ready to fight, and the names remain subject to the start of the due process.” The seat has been vacant since Skaf's death on December 13, 2025, and Interior Ministry sources say that the ministry is preparing to hold the election as soon as possible, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
