Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed that “the rights of persons with disabilities constitute a test of the state’s ability to ensure equality among its citizens,” explaining that “the responsibility for removing the barriers that hinder them lies with all ministries and public institutions.”
He stressed that the integration of people with disabilities cannot be postponed until after Lebanon recovers, because it is “part of the recovery itself.”
He stressed that the strategy “is not the strategy of a single ministry, nor a sectoral document added to state documents, but rather a commitment by the Lebanese state towards its citizens,” explaining that the rights of persons with disabilities are not a separate social file, but rather “a test of the state’s ability to be a state for all its citizens, and to guarantee them equality in rights and opportunities.”
