A member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, MP Qasim Hashem, considered in a statement that “the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, which granted land that he did not own and his kingdom to groups that did not deserve it, was a decision that targeted international peace and security, from that moment the policy of injustice and aggression began and has not stopped until today, and our country receives the largest share from the policy of aggression.” He added: "The discussion of the ill-fated promise went beyond the borders of Palestine to remind us today of what the enemy leaders are trying to threaten to revive, in order to undermine our homeland's sovereignty, dignity and existence. Perhaps this memory pushes us to read about the existential danger targeting us and pushes us to pay attention and read carefully, so that we do not drown in slogans and surrender to dictates that put us on the brink of collapse." As for the American elections, Hashem stressed that “the results of the American elections will be reflected in Lebanon and the region, in light of the differences in the orientations of Republicans and Democrats towards foreign policy and the relationship with Israel.” According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the US midterm elections will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3. Hashem warned of “the continuation of current American policies and the repercussions they may have on Lebanon, in light of the escalation of Israeli threats,” calling for “strengthening internal unity and reducing divisions to confront risks.” In a radio interview, Hashem stressed "the necessity of building positive relations with Syria based on common interests and respect for the sovereignty of the two countries."
