MP Ashraf Rifi announced today, Tuesday, his full solidarity with the rightful national calls of the people of the south, “from the first call of Nabatieh, to the call of Jabal Amel, and all the way to the third call.” He said: “I add my voice to the voices of our people in the south, these free and frank voices.” Rifi pointed out that “these calls carry one message: fear for the South and its people, and warning against temporary displacement turning into permanent uprooting from the land,” explaining that these voices do not express the concern of the people of the South alone, but rather a national issue that concerns us all. Rifi called on citizens to add their voices to these calls, and to stand by our people in the south and their right to their land, homes, and dignity. He considered that these calls express a legitimate concern among the people of the South, who are paying heavy prices for their security, livelihood, and stability, and it is the state’s duty to listen to their voice and bear its full responsibility in protecting the South through its legitimate institutions, first and foremost the Lebanese Army. He concluded: “Protecting the South and its people is the sole responsibility of the state, and the right of its people to remain in their land is a national right that should not be neglected or compromised upon.”
