The Lebanese Forces considered, in a statement, that the issue of the Dahr al-Baydar explosives constitutes a national security issue par excellence, and affects the security of all Lebanese. She pointed out that whatever the pretexts provided to justify the transfer of these explosives, even if their owners’ claim that they were intended to fight Israel is true, they constitute a major and dangerous threat to the people of the south in particular, and to all Lebanese in general. The Lebanese Forces called on the government to refer the file, as soon as possible, to the Judicial Council, to conduct investigations based on its consideration of a national security issue, instead of continuing to pursue elements it described as minor, while, according to the statement, the decision-makers who publicly acknowledged their responsibility for the explosives are being overlooked. The Lebanese Forces criticized what it described as the “crying laugh” in the daily leaks regarding the continuation of investigations and the circulation of names being scrutinized, considering that senior Hezbollah officials, including MPs and party leaders, publicly acknowledged that the party was transporting these explosives and that they belonged to it.
