Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, warned of the possibility of an escalation in Israeli aggression and the repercussions of Hezbollah’s involvement in a new war, stressing that “the next stage carries great risks for Lebanon and the region.” In a television interview, Bassil stressed "the need to spare Lebanon from military confrontation and prevent the conflict from spreading into Lebanon." He expressed his hope that Hezbollah would not enter the war for the third time, warning that "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be more cruel after the elections if he wins." Basil addressed the party with a request, saying: “We ask you again, as we asked Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, not to enter the war.” He wondered: “With military capabilities, Hezbollah is now unable to defend to prevent further Israeli occupation, so how will it attack then?”, considering that “the priority must be to protect Lebanon and prevent the expansion of the confrontation.” The leader of the movement praised the wisdom and patriotism of the army commander, General Rudolph Heikal, stressing that “harming the army is a recipe for internal war.” Regarding the negotiations file and the framework agreement, Bassil pointed out that Lebanon “gave everything without taking anything.” Bassil described the relationship between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah as "not good," but stressed the refusal to turn the political dispute into hostility that could lead to an internal explosion.
