Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa confirmed that “what is being circulated about Syria’s entry into Lebanon is nothing more than rumours,” noting that “Syria’s approach stems from seeking to stop the war in Lebanon and not expanding it or getting involved in it.”
He explained in a statement to a delegation of the people of the Damascus countryside that “the file of demarcating the border between Syria and Lebanon is not on the table as a priority at the current stage in light of the presence of more urgent files, most notably the issue of about 1.4 million displaced Syrians in Lebanon and the necessity of working to find an appropriate mechanism to guarantee their return.”
