The Ministry of Communications commented on the decision of the Electricité du Liban regarding cutting off power to official institutions that had not paid their electricity consumption bills.
The Ministry announced in a statement that it "referred to the Ministry of Finance all the invoices that it received, audited and were duly cleared, amounting to 5 million and 199 thousand dollars, in addition to sending invoices worth 1 million and 275 thousand dollars to be paid from the treasury advance, issued in Decree 12816."
The Ministry confirmed that only some invoices remain for the years 2023 and 2024, awaiting a decision on the request to transfer the necessary appropriations submitted by the Ministry of Communications on 7/13/2026 to the Ministry of Finance, given the lack of appropriations in previous budgets.
She pointed out that Alpha, Touch, and Ogero pay their bills periodically without delay, under the direct supervision of the Minister of Communications.
