Member of the Phalange Bloc, MP Salim Al-Sayegh, condemned the murder of Priest Samir Daou, offering his deepest condolences to his brothers in the priesthood and his family, and to everyone who shared with him the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Al-Sayegh stressed that this crime “will not go unnoticed,” calling on the Lebanese security services to arrest its perpetrator and bring him to justice to be tried in accordance with Lebanese laws.
He added that if the perpetrator flees to Syria, the Lebanese state must submit a request to extradite him and try him before the Lebanese judiciary.
Al-Sayegh said: “Let this tragedy be a harsh lesson that puts an end to any laxity in dealing with the displacement issue, and reassures clerics, all clerics, of their right to carry out their mission and serve their subjects freely and safely.”
