The Jordanian Council of Ministers approved "supplying the brotherly Lebanese side with natural gas through the floating vessel at the port of Aqaba, in cooperation with the brothers in Syria, as part of continued cooperation with the brothers to support supplying them with energy," according to the Jordanian News Agency, Petra. The decision comes "as part of achieving the objectives of the national energy sector strategy, which aims for Jordan to be a pivotal regional hub for energy exchange and green energy production, relying on the advanced infrastructure that has been developed, whether in electricity or gas networks." According to the agreements, "the brotherly Lebanese will be supplied through Jordan importing gas, converting it from a liquid state to a gaseous state using the infrastructure available in the Kingdom, the onshore gas unit, and the transmission pipelines extending from the south of the Kingdom to its north, and passing it to the brotherly Lebanese via Syria, in a manner that contributes to helping them secure an energy source for electricity production." The agency explained that this decision comes "as part of Jordan standing by its brothers, supporting them, and providing what they need in the energy sector according to the capabilities of the available infrastructure, noting that Jordan has continued to supply the brotherly Syrians with gas since the beginning of the current year, using the same mechanism by which the brotherly Lebanese will be supplied."
