The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Hajjar, wrote on the ministry’s page on “X”: “I met with a delegation of our people in Beirut, which included mukhtars, lawyers, and activists who confirmed that the people of Beirut are under the law and denounced the violence and shooting that occurred during a raid in the Saqiet al-Janzeer area - Beirut. During the meeting, we stressed the need to maintain the security and stability of the capital at this delicate stage. We also agreed that awareness and self-control constitute the basic foundation for protecting our city of Beirut and preserving the safety of its people. We will follow up with His Excellency the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister on what happened in Al-Janzeer Wheel, to ensure that security is maintained and the laws are respected. Based on the meeting, we call on our people to open the roads and cooperate together to protect Beirut and enhance its stability.”
