The General Directorate of Security Forces denied the news reported by some news sites and social media sites on 11/5/2026 about 6 robberies occurring in the heart of the capital, Beirut, within a period of 45 minutes, which is inaccurate and exaggerated. Yesterday afternoon, one robbery occurred in the New Tariq neighborhood. In this context, one of the Beirut Investigation Detachment patrols was able, at 4:00 a.m. on November 5, 2026, to arrest two people red-handed, on a motorcycle without a registration plate, in the Achrafieh area - Pierre Gemayel Avenue, for carrying out a robbery in the area. It turns out that they are among the precedents in this field, namely H. H. (Born in 2002, Lebanese) and A. D. (Born in 2006, Palestinian). They were found in possession of a white GR motorbike without registration or papers, and a quantity of marijuana inside a shoulder bag. The two detainees were handed over to the relevant faction to take legal action against them, and the investigation is underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary. The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Hajjar, also held a meeting at the headquarters of the Beirut Police Unit in the Emile Al-Helou Barracks, to discuss tightening security measures and procedures in the city of Beirut. The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces called on all media outlets and news sites not to rush to publish any news before confirming its authenticity, and not to exaggerate news that may reflect negatively on the general situation in the country. She asked citizens not to spread such unreliable news, which creates confusion and sows fear among people.
