Army Commander Rudolph Heikal expressed his appreciation to the various army units and members for their continued efforts and great achievements, especially with regard to maintaining security inside Lebanon, monitoring the borders and thwarting smuggling operations. He pointed out during a meeting held in Yarzeh attended by the leadership staff and commanders of operational units and regiments, that the army relied during this period on its own capabilities and worked to develop them, which contributed to significantly enhancing its capabilities at various levels, and led to major achievements and successful initiatives that demonstrated the professionalism of military units and progress in operational and logistical capabilities. Among these initiatives was the army’s contribution to the rehabilitation of President Rene Moawad Airport - Qlayaat. He addressed them by saying: “The army’s message is the national message, and it has no policy other than the national policy. Our primary goal is to preserve internal unity, stability, and civil peace, and to preserve national sovereignty. We work to make the political authority’s decisions successful, and to extend the state’s authority over all its lands. The withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the occupied Lebanese territories must be achieved, since its survival is the basic problem and the first danger that our country faces.” He added: "Some inside and outside criticize the work of the army and evaluate its performance, without the slightest knowledge of the work of the military institution, and try to distort its image, and this position contradicts national affiliation. The army achieves great achievements beyond its capacity, and this is what many armies in the world are not capable of, and this is due to the solidity of the soldiers, their belief in their army, and the confidence of the Lebanese in it." He said: “The army will stand as an impenetrable barrier in the face of any internal conflict, and will not allow Lebanon’s security and stability to be destabilized.” He also stressed that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon - UNIFIL is a memory of the history of the conflict between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation, considering that it monitors the implementation of international resolutions, works to document violations and attacks, and is a witness to the occupation’s commitments, which proves the necessity of its survival and continuity in performing its mission. He concluded by stressing the need to be aware and responsible, and to maintain readiness and readiness for all eventualities, without betting on any international or regional variables, pointing out that the leadership is making every effort to stand by the military and improve their conditions.
