Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Lebanese Parliament, MP Ali Ammar, responded to the statement of the US State Department spokesman, considering that the US administration continues to interfere in various aspects of life in Lebanon. Ammar said that this interference, which he described as “guardianship,” has reached dangerous and unprecedented levels, pointing to Washington’s interference in judicial affairs, and what he considered an attack on its independence, in addition to the positions and statements that he described as provocative, and the meetings that the American embassy in Awkar is conducting with official and media officials, with the aim of “inciting the Lebanese against each other, stirring up strife among them, influencing Lebanon’s internal choices, and working to change its national constants in the service of the Israeli enemy.” He stressed that this intervention constitutes, as he put it, a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and an attack on its free national decision, calling on the United States to stop its interference in Lebanese internal affairs, and calling on the Lebanese authority to take a “responsible, patriotic, and resolute” position that puts an end to these interventions, and to carry out its constitutional duties in preserving sovereignty and the independence of national decision-making.
