The vicinity of Saraya al-Minya in northern Lebanon witnessed a state of tension and anger on Monday evening, after a number of residents gathered to protest the arrest of a father and his children, and demanded their release. According to information, a member of the Internal Security Forces, during a security checkpoint on Arman Road this afternoon, pushed a young man and a girl from the town of Nabi Yusha who were riding a motorcycle and tried to escape from the checkpoint, which led to them falling to the ground and the girl being injured in the head. Following the incident, the father insulted the officer, which led to his arrest along with his children. The protesters were able to enter the outer courtyard of the Al-Minya Palace before Lebanese army reinforcements arrived at the site, while information reported that the road was blocked in both directions in front of the Saraya, amid attempts to storm it with the aim of releasing the detainees. The Minya faction asked the protesters to give it 10 minutes to complete the investigation, while young men from Minya left the palace waiting for the investigation to end. The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces announced that, as a result of the circulation of a video clip on social media sites, a video clip was shown showing a citizen being subjected to insults, insults, and curses at a member of the Zgharta Traffic Detachment of the Internal Security Forces, while he was under the pedestrian bridge opposite the Saray building of the mayor of Minieh/Dinniyeh, where a checkpoint had been set up to control traffic violations, and the member remained alone in the place after the checkpoint ended to complete some procedures related to the violating bicycles, as the aforementioned citizen directed. Insults and insults were directed at the officers and the officer in charge of them, while his son filmed the incident. The attack came after the father heard rumors that his son and daughter, who were riding a bicycle without license plates, were pushed by one of the checkpoint officers and fell to the ground, noting that one of the circulating videos shows that the officer did not push the bike, but rather tried to remove its key to prevent his escape, and collided with the foot of another officer. As a result, the Information Division arrested the father, while his son later surrendered himself to the Al-Minya faction. Also, the necessary disciplinary measures were taken against the officer for his failure to take appropriate measures to put an end to insults and insults, in accordance with the powers stipulated in the law. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
