The Ministry of Economy warned gas station owners against “using illegal methods to achieve illegal profits, after receiving information indicating the existence of replaceable fuel pumps in Lebanese markets.” The Ministry indicated that the use of such pumps constitutes a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law No. 659/2005, specifically Articles 48 and 49 thereof, explaining that this information was confirmed during the monitoring operations conducted by the Ministry. The Ministry of Economy called on all owners of stations equipped with these pumps, and the companies and individuals who installed them, to report this immediately by submitting requests to place seals on them, within a period of three weeks from the issuance of this circular. The Ministry also stressed the prohibition of installing or using any fuel pumps that do not contain a “dip switch,” stressing that it will take strict measures to control violations and refer them to the competent judiciary.
