President Joseph Aoun chaired a security meeting at Baabda Palace, during which he called for strengthening the presence of the Internal Security Forces, Public Security, and State Security in southern villages and towns not under Israeli occupation, with the aim of reassuring the people and facilitating their access to administrative services.
During the meeting, Aoun praised the work of the army and security forces, their readiness, the speed of their movement, and their effectiveness in detecting crimes and their perpetrators, prosecuting them, and arresting them.
He stressed the need to strictly enforce laws, prevent armed demonstrations, confiscate weapons and ammunition, expedite investigations, and refer violators to the competent judiciary to take the necessary measures.
He explained, "The current stage requires careful monitoring of the situation and adopting the necessary proactive measures, in addition to blocking any exploitation of the economic situation."
He stressed that "it is not permissible to tolerate any attempt to disrupt security or undermine the stability of the country, and the current stage requires the highest levels of preparedness and coordination between the security and military services, a continuous exchange of information and an accurate assessment of developments, far from any duplication of roles or conflict of powers."
