Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Mitri announced to Al Jazeera that Washington has not yet exerted sufficient pressure on Israel to implement its obligations. Mitri indicated that a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory had been agreed upon, but it was not implemented, pointing out that Israel refused to allow the Red Cross to visit the Lebanese prisoners and did not hand over lists of their names to Beirut. Mitri said that Israel sought to exploit the negotiations to announce an alliance with the Lebanese state against Hezbollah, adding that no progress had been made in the issue of restricting weapons to the Lebanese state, and that Hezbollah did not announce its acceptance of the principle of restricting weapons to the state despite its approval of the ministerial statement. Mitri added that Beirut asked Iran to appoint a new ambassador to Beirut, and it is currently working to settle the diplomatic file, stressing that Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa assured them that there is no Syrian intention to interfere in Lebanese affairs. He continued that a third batch of Syrian prisoners sentenced in Lebanon would be delivered to Damascus soon, explaining that Israel stipulates the disarmament of Hezbollah and the party stipulates its withdrawal, and Lebanon is stuck between the two positions. Mitri explained that preventing Iranian planes from landing at Beirut Airport came to protect it from Israeli targeting, noting that countries are linking their aid to Lebanon to implementing reforms, restricting weapons, and restoring the decision of war and peace.
