During his participation in the fifty-second session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Iraq, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Yousef Raji sent an appeal to the Islamic Republic of Iran and its affiliated arms, in which he called for an end to the attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan.
Raji affirmed Lebanon’s adherence to UN Security Council Resolution No. 2817, which calls for an immediate cessation of these attacks, stressing Lebanon’s full solidarity with these countries.
Regarding the weapons file, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the government took a decisive decision in August 2025 to limit weapons to the legitimate security services alone, and to extend the state’s authority over its entire territory exclusively by its own forces, out of its belief that “there is no sovereignty with dual weapons.”
Raji renewed his condemnation of the war launched by Israel against Lebanon, which led to the occupation of large parts of Lebanese territory, considering that it constitutes a violation of the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law.
At the conclusion of his speech, Raji referred to the tripartite framework of action that was reached with the United States and Israel, stressing that it “would lead to complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, the return of the displaced to their villages, the launch of the reconstruction process, and the recovery of prisoners, as well as the disarmament of all armed groups, and confining weapons to the legitimate Lebanese agencies alone.”
