The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, wrote on “X”: “We commemorate October 13, 1990, and Saturday, October 17, 2026, to link the two dates; the first was military and the second was economic. Both of them targeted Baabda Palace, the center of legitimacy, to undermine the Freedom, Sovereignty and Independence Movement; both times, they were humiliated and we had dignity, so we continued. And we continue this year with 1,211 new members to the movement.”
