Prime Minister Nawaf Salam wrote on the “X” platform: “From my meetings yesterday and today, after the opening of the work of the United Nations General Assembly, and my participation in the American multilateral summit alongside the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey, and my chairing of the high-level meeting under the title “Beyond the Crises,” which was held at the joint invitation of Lebanon, the European Union, and the United Nations Development Programme, and my meetings with the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, and the Vice Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Abdullah Alimi, European Union Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs Dubravka Čuca, Romanian President Nikocor Dan, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, and UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al-Hashemi. It focused on: - Intensifying efforts to reduce the escalation, spare Lebanon and the region from further confrontations, and strengthen Lebanon’s Arab, regional and international relations on the basis of respect for sovereignty, non-interference and common interests. - Expanding economic and investment cooperation and regional connectivity, especially in the fields of energy, electricity, transportation and infrastructure, and benefiting from international expertise in modernizing administration and digitizing government services. - Continuing our work in Lebanon on reform and strengthening state institutions, and on extending state authority over its entire territory and confining weapons and the decision of war and peace to its hands alone. - The necessity of Israel’s complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory and stopping its attacks, in a way that contributes to establishing stability and the return of people to their towns and villages. - Work from now on to prepare for the post-UNIFIL phase and avoid any vacuum in the south, through a formula that ensures a continued international presence that carries out monitoring, reporting and communication tasks, under the umbrella of a resolution issued by the UN Security Council. - Mobilizing support for the path of return, recovery and reconstruction, in a way that contributes to restoring basic services, stabilizing the return of our people, and strengthening their steadfastness in the affected areas.
