Prime Minister Nawaf Salam continued his diplomatic meetings in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, where he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al-Hashemi, and the European Union Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs Dubravka Šwitsa. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations, supporting stability in Lebanon, expanding economic and investment cooperation, in addition to regional developments. Salam discussed with the European Union Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs, Dubravka Świca, Lebanese-European relations and ways to strengthen them, in the presence of Foreign Minister Youssef Raji. Schweica affirmed that the European Union stands with Lebanon, noting that the Union will begin disbursing the second installment, amounting to 500 million euros, of the aid package allocated to Lebanon. She stressed the importance of continuing the reforms initiated by the government, especially those required to reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. For his part, Salam stressed the importance of supporting the path of return and recovery, especially in the south, in a way that contributes to stabilizing the return of people, restoring basic services, and enhancing the resilience of the population in the affected areas. Swica expressed the European Union's readiness to continue supporting Lebanon in this field. On the other hand, the Prime Minister held a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in the presence of Youssef Raji, and they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. During the meeting, Salam stressed the importance of continuing an international presence in the south after the end of the UNIFIL mission, which contributes to maintaining stability, ensures the continuation of monitoring, reporting and communication tasks, and supports the process of extending the authority of the Lebanese state over its entire territory. The Lebanese Prime Minister continued his meetings, and discussed with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, reducing the escalation and preserving the security and stability of the region, and the historical and fraternal relations between Lebanon and Kuwait. Salam renewed his condemnation of the attacks that targeted the State of Kuwait, stressing Lebanon’s solidarity with it and standing by it, while the Kuwaiti Crown Prince renewed his country’s support for Lebanon, expressing its desire to expand its investments in it. President Salam thanked Kuwait for its continued support for Lebanon, especially in the energy sector, praising its expected contribution to securing fuel for the Electricité du Liban. In another meeting, he discussed with the Minister of State for International Cooperation in the United Arab Emirates, Reem Al-Hashemi, ways to enhance cooperation between Lebanon and the UAE in the field of digital transformation and developing government services, and benefiting from the Emirati experience in digitizing transactions and simplifying procedures, which contributes to reducing the time required to complete them and improving the services provided to citizens. Al-Hashemi expressed the UAE's readiness to support Lebanon and exchange experiences with it in this field.
