The Internal Security Forces Directorate General - Public Relations Department issued the following communiqué: On 12-9-2026, citizen Mohammad Hamzeh (born in 1975), while passing in a Renault Rapid car in the Sports City area, was struck by a large stone thrown toward his vehicle, resulting in his injury. He later succumbed to his wounds. Consequently, Internal Security Forces units initiated field procedures and worked to identify and arrest the perpetrator. Following follow-up, it turned out that the perpetrator used to walk on foot to the location where he carried out his actions, coming from the Sabra area, and would throw stones at passing cars, then immediately leave the scene and go into hiding. As a result of inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch was able to determine his description, and competent units were tasked with intensifying surveillance operations in places where he was likely to move, until his identity was determined. He turned out to be: A. F. (born in 1998, Lebanese), who works in scrap metal collection. It also transpired that, following the incident that led to the death of Mohammad Hamzeh, he shaved his beard in an attempt to alter his appearance. On 22-9-2026, following a precise surveillance operation that included the routes and places where he was likely to move, an Information Branch patrol was able to arrest him in the Sabra neighborhood. Noting that on 21-9-2026, he threw a stone toward a passing car in the same neighborhood, causing material damage to it. During initial interrogation, he confessed to throwing stones in the Sports City area, claiming that he used to do so when he felt pain and tension, and that he felt relieved after throwing stones, and his goal was not murder. Investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
