President Joseph Aoun spoke, during the preparatory meeting for the international conference to support the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces held in Paris, about current developments in Lebanon, thanking King Abdullah II and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the initiative and the Aqaba Process in bringing together partners and enhancing coordination in support of Lebanon's security, stability, and legitimate institutions. He also thanked French President Emmanuel Macron and France for hosting the meeting and their continuous standing by Lebanon, as well as the participating friendly countries for their commitment to Lebanon's security, sovereignty, and stability. Aoun said the meeting comes within the framework of preparing for the conference to support the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces at a pivotal stage in the history of Lebanon and the region, pointing out that Lebanon is experiencing a destructive war in which the people have paid a heavy price with the fall of more than four thousand martyrs, including 399 women and 261 children. He pointed out that Israeli attacks target the land, cities, and villages, and do not spare medical and relief crews, journalists, state institutions, and places of worship, and have also targeted United Nations peacekeeping forces, considering this a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
