Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Al-Bissat issued a decision regarding the suspension of trade in two types of cheese (Double Cream and Akkawi). Article One states: Trading in the Lebanese markets is suspended for the cheese products (Double Cream, Al-Sabah brand, and Akkawi, Al-Sabah brand) produced by the Al-Sabah Dairy and Cheese factory, owned by Ms. Sabah Ahmed Jumaa in Al-Marj - Western Bekaa. This comes after laboratory analysis of a sample of the Double Cream proved it contained starch, and a sample of the Akkawi cheese showed non-compliance microbiologically. As for Article Two: The factory mentioned in Article One above is requested to withdraw its products of the aforementioned goods offered for sale in the Lebanese markets and to submit a schedule of the quantities withdrawn within a period of three days from the date this decision enters into force, and to notify the Ministry of Economy and Trade thereof in preparation for their destruction. Article Three states: This decision takes effect immediately upon its issuance, is announced in the media, published, and communicated where necessary.
