Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam chaired a meeting devoted to following up on the implementation of Cabinet decisions related to measures to protect health, environmental safety, and aviation safety in the vicinity of Beirut International Airport. The meeting was attended by Ministers of Industry Joe Issa Al-Khoury, Interior and Municipalities Ahmed Al-Hajjar, Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, Agriculture Nizar Hani, Environment Tamara Al-Zein, Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, Director General of State Security Major General Edgar Lowndos, Director General of the Internal Security Forces Major General Raed Abdullah, Governor of Mount Lebanon Judge Muhammad Makkawi, Prosecutor General of Mount Lebanon Judge Sami Sader, and Director of Operations at Army Intelligence Brigadier General George Bou Salibi. Based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers, it was decided to initiate the necessary executive steps on the ground, including prohibiting the acquisition or breeding of birds of all kinds, and taking the necessary measures against farms and slaughterhouses that operate without a legal license, or that exceed the limits of their licenses and do not adhere to the conditions and standards imposed in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, within a five-kilometre radius of the borders of the Rafic Hariri International Airport campus, and in coordination between the relevant ministries, departments, and security and judicial authorities.
