The Lebanese Army Command announced that “the ongoing Israeli attacks are hampering its efforts to establish stability, complete its deployment, and carry out its missions in accordance with the framework agreement, stressing that stopping the attacks and violations constitutes the primary factor for continuing these missions.” The command indicated, in a statement, that "the Israeli occupation has escalated its targeting of residential areas and institutions over the past few days, which led to the death of a large number of martyrs and wounded, the last of whom were at least 12 martyrs, including children and women, in the town of Kafr Rumman in Nabatieh." She stressed that "the continuation of the attacks, in conjunction with the demolitions and bombings in the south, contradicts international laws and threatens existing understandings and arrangements, and represents a violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and security." She explained that "the army has expressed its full readiness to implement its obligations since the signing of the framework agreement, and has begun taking the necessary measures to impose operational control in the model areas, in coordination with the military coordination group for Lebanon and in accordance with the plan prepared by the army leadership," pointing out that "a complete agreement has not been reached on the stages of these areas and subsequent steps." The army's measures included setting up 6 fixed checkpoints and 13 observation points on the roads leading to and inside the towns of Zawtar al-Gharbiyya, Faroon, and Srifa, in addition to conducting foot and wheeled patrols around the clock. The relevant military units also confiscated about 1,818 pieces of weapons and ammunition, including 10 rocket launchers, 7 missiles, 6 drones, 51 comets, 10 flying bombs, and 1,560 pieces of light ammunition, in addition to a large number of mines and explosive devices. It opened roads with a total length of about 12 kilometers. The units also searched a number of homes in accordance with Lebanese laws and with the approval of their owners, amid full cooperation from the people, in conjunction with removing rubble, opening roads, providing the basic needs of the population, and participating in recovering the bodies of the martyrs. According to the command, these measures allowed the army to impose operational control and control the movement of entry and exit within the area of operations. In Zawtar al-Gharbiyya, about 70 percent of the population returned to inspect their properties, while only 16 percent of them were able to settle, that is, 60 families out of 450, after the Israeli occupation completely destroyed 85 percent of the homes and 15 percent partially. On the other hand, the command said, “The Israeli occupation forces did not adhere to the agreement, as about 7,700 violations were recorded since the signing of the framework agreement on June 26, 2026, in addition to shooting near army personnel and patrols.” She added that "the recent attacks and violations caused a new wave of displacement from areas that were considered safe," considering that "the goal of the Israeli occupation is to undermine the credibility of the army inside Lebanon and before the international community."
