The Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Economy and Trade reported in its weekly report, as part of the oversight campaigns it carries out in coordination with the security and judicial agencies, that: From the beginning of the year until September 4, 2026, it responded to 1,262 complaints, carried out 16,135 field investigations, and wrote 723 arrest reports. And in the week of August 31 until September 4: it responded to 285 complaints. It carried out 551 investigations, resulting in the filing of 43 arrest reports.  As a result of the intensive campaign aimed at encouraging citizens to use the Ministry’s electronic application to submit complaints confidentially and easily, while ensuring a rapid response to them, citizens’ demand for reporting via the MoET Digital Services application increased, recording an increase of about 5.5 times the usual weekly rate, i.e. an increase of 448%. It is worth noting that the Ministry's ongoing campaign against electric generators has, as of yesterday, resulted in the seizure and confiscation of 43 generators and the filing of 58 arrest reports against those violating the Ministry of Energy's pricing, which was set for the month of August at 48,241 Lebanese pounds per kilowatt-hour in densely populated cities and areas. Note that the confiscated generators are handed over to the relevant municipalities to monitor them or take over their operation, in a way that ensures continuity of service and preserves the rights of citizens. The Ministry of Economy and Trade, raising the slogan “Every Citizen is a Monitor,” asks citizens and consumers to file complaints against any violations they observe, either through its electronic application (MoET Digital Services), or through the Consumer Association-Lebanon hotline (01750650).
