Deputy Head of the Supreme Shia Islamic Council, Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, met with the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa. Following the meeting, the US Ambassador to Lebanon affirmed that the United States desires nothing but the interest of the Shia community and the return of the people of the South to their lands, directing a direct message to the members of the Shia sect. The US Ambassador stated: “We do not know how to reach a result with a section of the Shia sect, as they do not understand that their interest lies in comprehending what their responsibilities are,” emphasizing that the goal is to reach what serves the interest of the people of the South and the Shia community. He added in his message: “We want nothing but your interest.”
