Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri said on the 48th anniversary of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr: "A salute of pride and appreciation to the Lebanese across various regions who opened their homes and facilities for shelter, and to the brotherly countries that have stood and continue to stand by Lebanon, its south, and its people in order to overcome this fateful phase." He pointed out that what Israel wants is not Hezbollah, nor its weapons, nor the Amal Movement, nor the Shia sect; rather, what Israel wants is sedition, and the target is Lebanon in its unity and security peace. In his speech, Berri noted that the Lebanese Army is a red line, affirming his rejection of any questioning of its role, calling for securing all support for it and not compromising civil peace, and stressing that civil peace, national unity, and the Lebanese Army are red lines that must not be crossed. The Speaker of Parliament reaffirmed that the south is an integral part of Lebanon, and the responsibility of preserving it, defending it alongside its people, and rebuilding what the Israeli aggression has destroyed is the responsibility of the state and its military, security, and constitutional institutions. He said: "We have warned repeatedly against the framework agreement and the danger of direct negotiations under fire," renewing his adherence to the Taif Agreement and the completion of the implementation of its reform provisions, and affirming his opposition to any proposal for federalism or partition. Berri stressed that any call for partition or federalism does not align with the Taif Document, but rather is an adventure that threatens Lebanon's existence. Berri concluded: Relinquishing the right to prosecute Israel is a relinquishment of sovereignty, and this right must not lapse, neither during negotiations nor with the passage of time.
