The US Treasury Department announced on Thursday evening the imposition of a new package of Iran-related sanctions targeting individuals, entities, and vessels, as part of Washington's efforts to intensify pressure on Tehran and networks linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and "Hezbollah." This move comes within the framework of the US "Economic Fury" campaign aimed at targeting Iran's financing networks and sanctions evasion. According to the disclosed details, the measures include 21 individuals, 16 companies, and 10 vessels, in addition to sanctions on individuals whom Washington stated are linked to Hezbollah or the IRGC's Quds Force. The United States also reclassified Hezbollah under an Iran-related sanctions authority, in a step it said aims to emphasize the organization's ties to the Iranian government. The US Treasury stated that the measures also target individuals connected to Hezbollah and the Quds Force, including Turks, while confirming that the new package is part of efforts to cut off financing networks linking Iran and its allies. The sanctions coincided with the announcement by President Donald Trump's administration of an escalation of the "maximum economic pressure" campaign against Tehran.
