US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he had just been informed of the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, indicating the possibility of the United States participating in launching strikes against the Houthis. Trump said: “We may participate in strikes on the Houthis, and we will study the matter,” without revealing the nature of the step that his administration might take or its timing. In response to a question about developments in Iran, he simply said: “We will look into the matter.” His statements came after the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that the airport was subjected to an attack, which led to the temporary suspension of its operational operations, amid recording injuries that the authorities are working to account for. The authority explained that the suspension of operations will continue until the damage assessment is completed and the airport facilities are safe, in coordination with the competent authorities.
