Today, Tuesday, representatives of Israel and Lebanon will hold a new round of direct talks in the Italian capital, Rome.
At the end of June, the two sides agreed to an American-brokered framework agreement aimed at paving the way towards a final peace agreement, but confrontations with Hezbollah, which is not participating in the talks, continued intermittently.
Last weekend, the Israeli army launched one of the most violent waves of attacks on Lebanon since the ceasefire in July, according to Lebanese reports and eyewitness testimonies.
