The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser Al-Din, condemned in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed by the Israeli enemy today, by directly targeting Lebanese Civil Defense paramedics while they were carrying out a humanitarian rescue mission in the town of Majdal Zoun.
Minister Nasser al-Din indicated that this crime is not just an isolated incident, but rather a continuation of the scorched earth policy and targeting the components of Lebanese steadfastness, as the number of martyrs in the health sector has risen to 103 martyrs since March 2. He considered that this intensification of killing represents a violation of all international conventions and norms, and a blatant challenge to the Geneva Conventions, which grant absolute immunity to paramedics and medical teams in the field.
The Minister sent an urgent appeal to international and international organizations, asking them to break their silence regarding this systematic persistence, stressing that silence about targeting the “white vests” is a stab at the essence of human values.
Nasser Al-Din concluded by stressing that the Ministry, in cooperation with the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, is documenting these violations in detail to build a solid international criminal file, stressing: “Our medics are not numbers, and we will not allow these crimes to pass by with the passage of time; accountability is coming, and justice will inevitably come, even if after a while.”
