His Excellency Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Nabih Berri, during his reception of a delegation from the We Are All Beirut rally headed by former Minister Muhammad Al-Shuqair, reiterated that national unity and civil peace are a red line that will not be allowed under any circumstances to be crossed at all, and that any attack on these two pillars from any party is an attack on the existence of Lebanon and a free gift to the Israeli enemy and its projects that cannot succeed except through strife. President Berri added: Sedition is asleep, and may God curse those who awaken it. So what if the matter is between the people of one country, one homeland, one identity, and yes, between the people of one religion, and in this circumstance I return and declare that I am Shiite by identity, Sunni by passion, and Arab to the end. President Berri continued: I take advantage of this opportunity, as we are on the first day of the truce taking effect and the return of people to their villages and towns, to renew my thanks to the capital, Beirut, which opened its doors and neighborhoods, as well as the Mountain and the North, to the displaced from the south, the suburbs, and the Bekaa. Speaker Berri, before the delegation, expressed his dissatisfaction, denunciation, and rejection of the shooting phenomenon that occurred yesterday and occurs on every occasion, considering that every bullet fired into the air, as much as it might, poses a threat to the life of the secretary and threatens people’s property is an abuse of the dignity of the martyrs, and is a violation not only of the law but of all divine laws.
