Threats of bombs on board aircraft in Europe were renewed on Friday, according to what news agencies reported, after the Czech authorities received new reports targeting flights taking off or landing at Prague Airport, while a Wizz Air flight that was heading from the Czech capital to Rome was diverted.
Italian media reported that a bomb alert on the flight prompted authorities to divert its course to Venice. According to Reuters, a source at the airport authority confirmed that the plane landed in Venice, and denied what was reported by ANSA that the warning came via a phone call to the control tower at Fiumicino Airport in Rome.
The Czech authorities reported that flights departing from Prague resumed takeoff after being subjected to examination, confirming that no explosive materials were found. The Portuguese police also announced that they had received a new false alarm about the presence of explosives on board a plane departing from Lisbon.
In Denmark, the police announced their presence again at Copenhagen Airport, on Friday, after receiving threats targeting air traffic, indicating that their initial assessment was that there was no danger to passengers or others, whether now or previously. In Ireland, the offices of Irish media groups, including the Broadcasting Corporation, were evacuated due to bomb threats.
As for France, the French Prime Minister's Office reported 4 new bomb threats targeting aircraft flying over French territory.
