On Monday, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu imposed a curfew in four cities in the north of the country from eight in the evening until six in the morning, on Monday and Tuesday nights, following the riots and violence that accompanied protests against the high cost of living.
Locorno had previously announced that he had asked local authorities to impose specific restrictions on movement, stressing that these measures should take into account the circumstances of each region.
He considered that the government believes that a partial ban is more appropriate at the current stage, with the option of declaring a state of emergency on the table when necessary, and ruling out imposing a comprehensive ban in Paris.
Saturday's events came after weeks of student movements protesting school conditions, which expanded to include objection to the high costs of living and the decline in public services.
Cities, including Paris, Lyon and Marseille, witnessed acts of vandalism and looting, while the historic Limoges municipal building was exposed to a fire that caused serious damage.
