Issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division
The following communication:
The media and social networking sites circulated a video showing a woman dissatisfied with the situation regarding the removal of 11 tents from a tent project under preparation in the Choueifat area, designed to receive those displaced from the war, suggesting that the Internal Security Forces were the ones who removed them.
Therefore, it is important for the General Directorate to clarify the following:
First: In light of the war, the tasks of the security forces increased to maintain security and protect society, especially the displaced. They are, first and foremost, our people, and our institution will always remain close to them and by their side. We are keen on their security and safety.
Based on the recommendations of the Disaster Risk Management Unit, efforts focused on assisting them and directing them to approved shelter centers, while providing the necessary support and securing their basic needs, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Second: The removal of the tents that were raised in the video was taken based on the advice of the competent judiciary, as it is a violation of the law, and based on what was mentioned above in terms of urging them to move to the available shelter centers, in order to protect them. The platoon informed the property owner of the judicial signal, so he took the initiative to implement the signal and remove the tents, and not by the security forces as his agent suggested in her words.
Third: The officer concerned with accusing the woman who wrote the video received her in his office, treated her professionally and wisely, and did not shout at her or insult her. Rather, he explained to her the mechanism of the judicial signal, and that the authority of the security forces is limited to executing the signal. However, she threatened him by raising the issue on social media sites, which appeared as a form of prejudice against the security forces in her statement, which was unfounded.
Fourth: The Directorate stresses its constant keenness to take into account the humanitarian and social conditions, especially in light of the difficult circumstances that the country is going through, and at the same time stresses that any humanitarian initiative must be carried out in accordance with legal procedures, or through communication with the Disaster Risk Management Unit; Especially in this current situation, finding shelter centers for the displaced under the authority of the state, far from establishing random camps.
On this occasion, this General Directorate urges citizens to be careful and accurate in transmitting and circulating news, and confirms that it will not hesitate to pursue those who spread fake news and anyone who works to mislead public opinion, in accordance with applicable laws. It also calls on all citizens and concerned parties to cooperate with the competent authorities and work within legal frameworks to ensure the public interest is achieved.
