President Joseph Aoun stressed that the continuation of the war leads to more destruction, victims and blood, noting that its path always differs from what the two parties to the war expect.
During his meeting with a delegation from the Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church headed by Patriarch John
He pointed out that “when the South is wounded, the wound affects all of Lebanon,” stressing that the state is responsible for its citizens, but the wars that were imposed on us had a negative impact on the path of the return of its institutions to the South, and on the achievement of many achievements. He pointed to a qualitative leap in many areas, especially with regard to economic, financial, administrative and judicial reforms.
He added, "Some fuel sectarian and sectarian strife for personal interests at the expense of their country, and there are those who cooperate with the outside against their Lebanese brother at home," considering that this is our problem in Lebanon, stressing the necessity of "strengthening each other at home against each other abroad."
For his part, Patriarch Yazigi expressed his confidence in President Aoun, saying: “We are in an unconventional time. I need you, with wisdom and knowledge, to make unconventional decisions in order to pass through Lebanon amidst the mines of international politics that have exploded and are exploding into a heated conflict. And we are here with you, Your Excellency the President, in your role that has placed you before your historic responsibility.”
