The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Hajjar, from the Lebanese Embassy in Qatar, launched the biometric fingerprint service for issuing biometric passports. Al-Hajjar stressed that "this service will be circulated successively to Lebanese embassies and consulates in the Gulf states and other countries of the world, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, allowing Lebanese residing abroad to complete their transactions easily." He pointed out, "After launching this service in Kuwait, Paris, Detroit, and Washington, we are launching it today in Qatar, a country that embraces a large Lebanese community that includes distinguished competencies and successful energies in various fields and sectors, and contributes to the renaissance of the society in which you live, and raises the name of Lebanon high." Minister Al-Hajjar pointed out during his meeting with a delegation from the Lebanese community at Dar Al-Safir that “Lebanon faces a difficult reality today, in light of the continued Israeli occupation and daily attacks on southern Lebanon, which imposes great challenges.” He stressed that "the state has made the choice to move towards negotiations, with the help of the United States of America," pointing out that this path is thorny and difficult.
