The municipality of Baraashit explained that, after receiving a phone call from a citizen in the town, who was asked to vacate his house located below the Social Affairs Center, the municipality immediately took the initiative to contact the Lebanese army to follow up on the matter and verify its circumstances. The municipality said in a statement, “The Lebanese Army took over the completion of the necessary procedures and communicated with the Cessation of Hostilities Monitoring Committee (the Mechanism), to verify the source of the communication, determine whether it came from the Israeli army, and whether it constitutes an actual threat that requires taking appropriate measures.” The municipality indicated that it had taken a precautionary measure by closing the road leading to the place in question, in order to ensure the safety of citizens, until the truth of the threat was confirmed and the information received was verified. She confirmed that she is following up on the issue in coordination with the relevant authorities, and is still awaiting the official response from the Mechanics Committee, in preparation for taking the necessary measures in light of the data that will be available. She called for obtaining information from official sources, and avoiding circulating unconfirmed news, and that any update be issued when reliable data is available.
