Prime Minister Nawaf Salam indicated that he contacted both the Commander of the Army, General Rudolf Heikal, and the Commander of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, praising the strengthening of the deployment of the armed forces in Greater Beirut during the past two days, and the importance of this in reassuring the hearts of citizens that the state and its armed forces are watching over their security and safety after the capital witnessed night gatherings that raised suspicion and anxiety in them about the dangers that may result from them. Salam added in a post on his account on the “X” platform, “There is no need to confirm that stability will not be restored in the country unless the state’s authority is extended over its entire territory, even gradually, exclusively by its own forces.” He pointed out that he met with the Minister of Justice, Adel Nassar, and the Public Prosecutor, Rami Al-Hajj, to follow up on the measures taken to expand the investigation into the explosive shipment that was seized in Dahr Al-Baydar and its aftermath, and to arrest all those involved in the possession and transfer of any illegal weapon and refer them to the competent judiciary to receive their punishment, stressing that “we have no ceiling on this except the ceiling of the law.” Salam called on everyone to "the necessity of prioritizing the country's interest over any other consideration, and not linking it to any external interests and goals," stressing that "the decision on war and peace must remain in the hands of the state and its constitutional institutions alone."
