The Vatican revealed the health condition of Pope Leo XIV, confirming that his medical examinations after the surgery he underwent to remove a cancerous tumor from his lung were normal. The Vatican announced in a statement that His Holiness Pope Leo XIV ate normally and began walking and performing breathing exercises. The Pope's doctors, Dr. Luigi Carbone and Dr. Stefano Margaritora, presented a medical report on Wednesday, in which blood tests and chest X-rays showed that recovery was proceeding normally, with indicators stabilizing within normal ranges. “The Holy Father underwent respiratory physical therapy and began walking in his room. He also resumed his usual diet and ate breakfast and lunch,” the report read. The two doctors added: “Recovery is going according to plan.” The surgery he underwent on Tuesday revealed that the 71-year-old Pope had the most common type of lung cancer, known as adenocarcinoma. Experts said that more tests were needed to find out whether the disease had spread, and whether the Pope needed further treatment, but the results of those tests were not available until Wednesday. The Vatican reported that the surgery took about 90 minutes, was successful and did not witness any complications.
