Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received at the Grand Serail the Army Commander, General Rodolphe Heikal. During the meeting, they discussed the security situation in the country, especially in the south, and followed up on the deployment of the Lebanese army and its tasks in extending state authority over its entire territory. The meeting also discussed the file of the recently seized explosives, where President Salam saluted the efforts of the Lebanese Armed Forces that led to the seizure of an additional quantity of explosive materials in the Al-Qasr - Hermel area, stressing the need to continue investigations to uncover all those involved and the parties behind the smuggling operations, and to refer them to the competent judiciary. President Salam affirmed his full support for the Lebanese Army in performing its duties, stressing the importance of strengthening its capabilities and enabling it to protect the borders, maintain the security of the Lebanese, and extend state authority over its entire territory.
