President Joseph Aoun affirmed that “our primary weapon in Lebanon is investing in people,” stressing that “the state took the decision to save what was left of Lebanon and go to negotiations because the war will not lead us to a result.” Aoun said during his meeting with the Mont La Salle School Veterans Association, “The son of the south is tired and only wants to live in safety,” pointing out that the agreement reached is not ideal, but it limited the expansion of Israeli attacks. He explained that the goal is Israeli withdrawal, the return of the displaced, the release of prisoners, and reconstruction. Aoun stressed the continuation of measures and reforms despite the difficulties, saying: “Nothing is impossible, and there is still a lot ahead of us, but we have put things on the right track.”
