The Committee of Contracted Professors at the Lebanese University announced, in a statement, that “the results of the recent questionnaire, in which about 800 contracted professors at the Lebanese University participated, showed that more than 90% support the continuation of the strike until the full-time file is approved, in a decisive position that reflects dissatisfaction with procrastination and repeated promises, especially after the expiry of the month-long deadline during which the government pledged to approve the file without fulfilling its promise.” The committee confirmed that it holds the Minister of Education and the Lebanese government fully responsible for the continuation of the strike and its repercussions on the university year, as a result of procrastination in approving the full-time file and the names. She pointed out, "The professors, who placed high hopes on this government to provide justice to them after more than 12 years of suffering, do not want to be on the verge of losing confidence in it. Therefore, we call on the government to approve the file immediately before it wastes what remains of this confidence." She called on “co-workers and the Association of Full-Time Professors at the University to support us and announce a comprehensive strike, in solidarity with their fellow contractors at this critical stage, in confirmation of the unity of the educational body and in defense of the dignity and future of the Lebanese University.” She explained, "Our concern for the university and its students does not justify ignoring our rights or pressuring us to retreat. Accordingly, we call on the students to accompany the strike and stand with their professors to achieve their rightful demands." The committee concluded: “The deadlines have been exhausted and the justifications for postponement have disappeared, and the decision is now in the hands of the government: either approve the sabbatical file and end the crisis, or continue the strike without retreat, as there is no return to education before this file is approved.”
